Carte du monde extérieur de la quête 2 de The Legend Of Zelda
First of all, here is the link to the overworld map (350 KB and very large). In the walkthrough, I will often refer to the map (for example H4 is the "square" of level 1). A note for Battleship fans: Zelda fans like to launch their ships from the iconic locations of Zelda 1, and H4 is one of them. This quest is harder than the first one, the palaces are better hidden and you can finish certain palaces while missing keys that are needed in later palaces. You will need to arrive at certain palaces with a key (this will be noted) but there is no need to buy any during the game.
At the beginning of the second quest, Link has no sword. Fortunately, an old man gives you the wooden sword in the nearby cave. Once equipped, Link is ready to save the world and can head to H4 where the entrance of the 1st dungeon (palace E) is, hidden in a tree.
Well done, you have found the first Triforce fragment. If you wish, you can go get the power bracelet (to cross the Lost Woods in B7, go North, West, South then West) as well as the first heart container (top left of the cemetery). Then head to dungeon 2 (palace A) located at E4, having picked up the white sword at K1 if you wish.
You now have the second Triforce fragment. For the next palace, you must buy some bait (at P1, it's the cheapest). Before going underground, also grab the heart at K4 and if you want the one at G1 (both with the flute). Take advantage of your time in the mountains to find the letter at B2. You can then go to dungeon 3 (palace L) at M4 (play the whistle again), having bought a red potion if you wish.
Before heading to castle 4, I strongly advise you to buy a candle (at O6 or O1 for example) which costs 60 rupees. The shield isn't essential, so you can head to palace 4 (palace D) found in the Lost Hills at L2. You'll need 50 rupees to open a door. Try to have 100 more rubies (150 total) as an old man will sell you the ability to carry 4 extra bombs, which will be quite useful later.
Thanks to the raft obtained in the 4th dungeon, you can go get the fourth heart at P3. Serious business starts with this palace full of Wizzrobes and red bubbles. Buy a magic shield (at N5 for 90 rupees, for example). Also buy arrows (at P7 if you are nearby) and a key if you don't have one. Use the raft at F6 to reach dungeon 5: the Z. The level is quite difficult but short; you can optionally get the blue ring.
To reach the next level, nothing extra is needed, but if you have 12 hearts (or more), go get the magic sword in the mountains (at J1). The dungeon isn't easy, so I advise you to get the blue ring at P1 to have all the overworld items before venturing into palace 6 (the hat) for which you will need a key. To make the tombstone blocking level 6 disappear, use the flute.
With this palace done, Link must go get the last heart on the eastern beach (at P6) before heading to dungeon 7 (the small spiral) located under a tree in the East Forest at M7. To burn the tree, you need to be on the other side of the tree line. To finish this palace you will need at least 50 rupees.
All but one Triforce fragments are yours. Before tackling the last dungeon, equip yourself with a red potion, it can always help. Once you have it, head to A1 where you will find: the 8th dungeon, the large spiral palace. It is at J2, behind the river. Blow up the river with a bomb and cross with the ladder. A very hard palace to find without a guide. I suggest arriving with a key and 100 rupees (needed for 4 extra bombs).
All Triforce pieces are yours. Ganon awaits you in his palace. Before facing the final dangers, equip yourself with a red potion. Then head to A1 where the 9th and final dungeon, Ganon's palace, awaits. If you are missing items, go find them; the bait is useless but having lots of bombs and a large shield will be very helpful.
The game is over. Check out the epilogue or go see the Zelda 2 walkthrough.
