Zelda Ocarina Of Time Master Quest on N64 - Hyrule Field

The Great Deku Tree has died, you must respect his last wishes and go meet the princess of Hyrule Castle. Leave the village despite the sign that forbids it (1). As you cross the bridge, Saria appears and gives you an Ocarina: the Fairy Ocarina (2). Arriving in the field, an owl (Kaepora Gaebora) speaks to you about the dangers that await you (3). He will return often during the adventure, you can trust him; he is an ally who will sometimes be of great help.

Then head towards Hyrule Castle located in the North of the field. Upon arrival, night falls (1) and the drawbridge rises; you will have to spend the night outside killing Stalchildren (2). At cockcrow, the bridge will reopen (3) and you will be able to enter the castle or rather the Market Town which is also protected by fortifications. In some places of Hyrule like the field, time passes normally, but it stops in other places like the Ranch, villages, and other locations. In these places, the same things generally do not happen during the day and night. At the beginning of the game, you do not control time and to visit the ranch (for example) at night, you will have to wait for night in the field and enter the ranch once night has fallen. But for now, cross the drawbridge.

Hyrule Market Town Play music

Hyrule Market Town

If you take the small door, you will find plenty of money and a skulltula. After stocking up, proceed to the market square. This square is full of games and merchants of all kinds; for now, you cannot do everything. Talk to people; you will surely learn interesting things. If you don't want to, at least talk to Malon (1) who is in front of the fountain in the center of the square. Behind her, you can see the door of the shooting gallery which will get you a seed bag (2) if you win (later, it will earn you 50 rupees). Once this bag is obtained, take the path that leads to the castle (behind Malon). Before everything, you unfortunately have to wait for night (or rather the arrival of Malon who can also appear if you get caught by a guard). While waiting, you can roll into the tree to get a skulltula. Once night arrives, re-enter the village and take advantage of being there at night to find Richard, a white dog often found on the market square. Approach him so that he follows you. Then, take the alley that is just to Link's left when he arrives on the square from the field, then take the door opposite (3). Talk to the lady who will give you a piece of heart to thank you for bringing back her little Richard. If it's not him, try again with another white dog.

Return to the castle "park", Malon is there (1), talk to her. She will give you a weird egg. Climb on the ivy right next to her and jump to the other side of the gate without being seen. The path being blocked by 2 guards, take the climb on the left (but not too early so that the other guard doesn't see you). Then cross the grassy area to the wall at the other end which you will have to climb (2). Next, jump into the moat and go right to get back onto dry land in the corner. At the end, you see Talon (Malon's father) sleeping. Target him and use your chicken (if you still have the egg, wait for daybreak, it will turn into a chicken). Talon wakes up (3) and runs home to avoid being scolded by his daughter.

You can now push the crates "into the water" (actually, there's a small stone beach). Put the second one on the first and jump to the place where the water flows (1) then enter the small tunnel. Here you are in the castle courtyard, the last test before joining Zelda. You must avoid all the guards (2 and 3) to reach the princess; if they see you, you will have to start over, knowing that you must wait for day to enter the tunnel, otherwise, you won't be able to pass. Once the 5 sets of guards are avoided, you can pass under the arch leading to the inner courtyard.

Meeting Zelda Play music

Mario and Bowser... Zelda's father seems to be a Nintendo 64 fan.

If you look through the window on the right, you will see Yoshi, Peach, Mario, Bowser and Yoshi, but as my girlfriend says, we don't really care so go meet Zelda at the end of the garden (1). She believes in you and explains that she is afraid of Ganondorf (2). According to her, the vile leader of the Gerudos threatens Hyrule. You must find the 3 Spiritual Stones, which together with the Ocarina of Time will allow you to reach the Sacred Realm where the Triforce is located. This Triforce possesses a gigantic power. It allows for a wish to be granted. If it is spoken by a man with a pure heart, Hyrule will know a golden age; if the wish is spoken by an evil man, Hyrule will be engulfed in flames. Here you are again facing big responsibilities since according to legend, it is a boy from the forest who must save the world and Zelda thinks it's you. Good luck. Zelda gives you a letter (Zelda's Letter) and Impa (3), her nurse, teaches you Zelda's Lullaby: the song of the Royal family. Impa is a Sheikah (from the Sheikah tribe) and shows you the path to follow. You must go to the Gorons who hold the Spiritual Stone of Fire. For that, you will have to climb Death Mountain above Kakariko Village, Impa's birthplace.

Lon Lon Ranch Play music

Lon Lon Ranch

Before going up to see the Gorons, I advise you to take a look at Lon Lon Ranch. There, first go see Talon by taking the door on the left after the entrance. He will offer you to play the super chicken game (1) which will win you a bottle filled with Lon Lon milk. To win the game, pay close attention to where he throws the chickens and if the chicken you take is not a super chicken, throw it far enough away so as not to take it again. At the start of the game, turn quickly and press "Z"; if you are fast and precise you should see 2 chickens land. Once this game is won, go to the middle of the corral and talk to Malon several times. Once she has proposed to sing together, target her with Z and take out your ocarina (2). Malon will then teach you Epona's Song which will be useful later in the game. If you are in the ranch, playing this music will make Epona, Malon's little mare, run to you. Before leaving the ranch, head to the very back towards the shed-like building. There, pull/push the crates in order to reach and enter the small hole hidden behind (3) and find a piece of heart.

Lost Woods Play music

Lost Woods

While Impa directed you to Death Mountain, Navi asks you what Saria would think if she knew you had to save Hyrule. Listen to the little fairy instead and head towards Kokiri Forest. Saria is not at home but Mido tells you she is in the Lost Woods (1) which are located above his house (climb the vines (2)). These woods are labyrinthine and you can get lost at any time and find yourself at the entrance. On the map (3), the red crosses are actually returns to the entrance. This map is schematic, the "rooms" are not all square but the passages are always at one of the 4 cardinal points.

Before taking the items indicated on the map, go to the Sacred Meadow (right, left, right, left, straight, left, right). To find it without a map, just listen to "where the music is coming from"; if when you approach a passage, you hear the music, you are on the right track. Kill the Wolfos to open the gate (target it, avoid its 2 hits, and hit it with A when its back is turned (1), it will kill it in one hit). Then, follow the map to find Saria (in the square to the North). It is useless to kill the Mad Scrub which are killed like Deku Scrubs. Saria teaches you Saria's Song (2), the music of the Lost Woods that will allow you to speak to her whenever you wish and which will be very useful at the Gorons but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Leave the meadow (you can go over the top rather than by the path, you will find a fairy fountain in a hole). Then exit the woods and re-enter them to take some important things. First go left and stand on the stump then take out your ocarina and play Saria's Song (3) to Skull Kid to obtain a piece of heart.

Then go to the next "grove" and beat the Deku Scrub (1) to be able to buy the possibility to carry more Deku Sticks. Next, return to the start and go right (right when entering the woods). There, target the kind of target right in the center (2) to obtain a seed bag allowing you to carry 10 more seeds for your slingshot. Then go down the ladder and stand on the stump (3) to participate in the forest boys' game (use your ocarina). If you win 3 times, they will give you a piece of heart. For now, there isn't much more to do in the woods apart from possibly gathering insects in your bottle to find the Skulltullas in the bean holes.
